Publisher Description

WhatTrain is the subway app for New Yorkers.

You already know the subway system. You just want to know *when* your train is coming. That's what WhatTrain gives you.

. Open the app for a list of all the trains around you, sorted by departure time, omitting those you couldn't reach on foot.

. Tap on a train to view the full schedule at its station along with walking directions.

. Check the Status tab for delays or service changes.

. Check the Map tab for the MTA subway map. Swipe right for other versions of the map, including one showing accessible stations.

REALTIME TRAIN TIMES:

WhatTrain incorporates the latest realtime information provided by the MTA. If you see "LIVE" next to a train, that is the MTA's realtime estimate based on live data.

PRIVACY:

WhatTrain respects your privacy. WhatTrain does not collect or retain your location information or any other personally identifying information about you (including your IP address). The app uses your location locally, and that's it. (As with any app that uses Apple's Location Services, using WhatTrain may expose your location to Apple.)

RECENT NEW FEATURES:

* Subway station entrances and the station footprints.
* Train routes for any specific train you select. 1.42 Apr 30 NEW FEATURE: subway station entrances and the station footprints.

When you select a subway train, the map with walking directions now shows you the entrances to the station and automatically routes you to the nearest one. You can tap on any other entrance to update the routing. Entrances with an elevator are specially noted. Blue station entrances are the ones closest to the platform for the train you've selected; yellow station entrances are part of the same subway station complex but might require you to walk underground to reach your platform.

The map now also shows the footprint of the subway station. 1.41 Apr 20 NEW FEATURE: Subway routes!

WhatTrain now lets you view all of the stops along the route of the subway you select — and it also lets you view the transfers available at each of those stops along with the realtime subway times for those transfers. When you're viewing the subway times at a particular station, just tap on the train you want to take to see a list of the stops it is going to make, along with the anticipated time it'll take to make it to each stop. You can also tap on any one of those stops to see the transfers you can make, along with their expected departure times (measured in number of minutes from when your train should arrive at the transfer station). 1.4 Apr 13 * New MTA maps, now including the new "diagram" maps alongside the older "geographical" ones. (To see all maps, go to the Maps tab and swipe to the left.)

- Improved location performance when reception is poor (hopefully!)
- A new icon!

A note on location:

WhatTrain relies on your iPhone to know where it is so that WhatTrain can show you train times for the trains around you. The iPhone is much more reliable at picking up its location in NYC with WiFi turned on. There are security risks to always having WiFi on (you can read more at the link below), but it improves WhatTrain's performance. In this latest update, I've tried to improve WhatTrain's performance when your phone is having a hard time figuring out where you are. Feedback welcome.
